Day of Dead (Dia de Muertos)
Part of our tradition in Mexico is to not be scared of death and to smile at it. Dia de los Muertos, commonly known as Day of the Dead, is a joyful time that helps people remember the deceased and celebrate their memory. Family and friends pray for and remember members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.
It is a traditional holiday that can be traced back to Mexican indigenous groups living 3,000 years ago. In 2008, the tradition was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
